陈洁雪 我是一个新西兰的中国人,出生在马来西亚的沙捞越州  will talk about her family and life in Borneo, based on her book   From China to Borneo and Beyond. 海外华人的中国魂: 从中国,到南洋,到更

This is a hundred-year-old journal of two families, the Chans and the Kongs.

It traces the first movement in 1907 from Kwang Zhou, China to the jungles of Borneo.  It is a six-generational record with the second wave of movement to England, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Australia, USA and New Zealand.  The journal begins from the author's great-grandfather Chan Kwong Kouk and centres on the life of the author's father John Chan Hiu Fei until his demise in 2006.  The Opium war, virgin tropical jungle, Japanese World War, colonial days, a revolution, a fight with the Communists;  these were the difficulties the families had to go through.
Ann Chin is a successful writer, and has been on TV, newspapers and has spoken to several organisations, about this book, and her other books:
Diary of a Bereaved Mother, Goodbye my baby 丧儿记: 丧失儿子的母亲的一本传记
This is a real life story of losing one's only son. This experience has made the author strong and caring.  This tragedy has been a great help for her to help understand other bereaved people.

Mail Order Bride  邮购新  This book is about the embodiment of the darker side of today's society.
